Dem Vorstand gehören der Wirtschaftsinformatiker Professor Ralf Knackstedt (Sprecher), die Politikwissenschaftlerin Professorin Marianne Kneuer, der Informationswissenschaftler Professor Joachim Griesbaum, die Mathematikdidaktikerin Professorin Barbara Schmidt-Thieme, der Leiter der Universitätsbibliothek Dr. Ewald Brahms und der Literaturwissenschaftler Dr. Guido Graf an.

„Mit dem Zentrum für Digitalen Wandel wollen wir bestehende Forschungs-, Lehr- und Transferinitiativen bündeln, um diesen eine größere Wirksamkeit zu verleihen und um disziplinübergreifende Erklärungs- und Gestaltungsansätze zu ermöglichen, die dem digitalen Wandel in seiner Komplexität gerecht werden“, so Professor Ralf Knackstedt.  

Die beteiligten Wissenschaftler_innen möchten erklären und aufklären, so dass weder überzogener Alarmismus noch Hype die Debatten über den Digitalen Wandel prägen. Die Digitalisierung ist eines von vier Leitthemen – neben Bildung, Kultur und Diversität – in der Entwicklungsplanung der Universität Hildesheim.
