BIOGRAPHY

Prof. Dr. Viola B. Georgi is Professor of Diversity Education at the Foundation University of Hildesheim and Director of the Centre for Educational Integration. Diversity and Democracy in Migration Societies.
She was Junior Professor for Intercultural Education at the Free University of Berlin; before that she worked as a research assistant at the Department of Social Sciences at Goethe University Frankfurt and at the Centre for Applied Policy Research at Ludwig Maximilians University Munich. She studied teaching, education and sociology at the Goethe University Frankfurt,the University of Bristol (England) and Harvard University (USA).
She held guest professorships abroad at York University in Toronto (Canada) in 2010 and at Uppsala University (Sweden) in 2015. Other teaching and research posts have taken her to the University of California, Los Angeles (USA), the University of Haifa (Israel), Sabanci University (Turkey) and the University of Cape Coast (Ghana).
Her main areas of work and research include: Diversity Education, Intercultural Education, Educational Media Research, Memory Practices in the Migration Society, Democracy Education and Citizenship Education.
Viola Georgi is also involved in numerous civil society committees that deal with the practical challenges of the migration society and advises politicians, for example in the Expert Council on Integration and Migration.
