Biography

Prof. Dr. Simon Mariwah (PhD) is a Development Geographer with research interest in the following areas: environment and development, health behaviours, sanitation and waste management, and resource management. Holding a PhD in Geography with a specialisation in Environment and Development from the University of Cape Coast, Dr. Simon Mariwah is currently a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Geography and Regional Planning at the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.

He has had practical training in ecological alternatives in sanitation in Sweden (2008) and South Africa (2009), and between March and June 2014, he was a Visiting Fellow in International Studies at the Watson Institute of International Studies at Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island, USA. He possesses extensive teaching and research experience, and has learnt on the job, starting as a Senior Research Assistant, Principal Research Assistant, Lecturer and now a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Geography and Regional Planning.

Dr. Simon Mariwah has published several peer-reviewed articles on a broad range of development issues, with a particular focus on sanitation and waste management, health behaviours and resource management. He has also served as a reviewer for several academic journals, and has attended several international and national conferences, seminars and workshops.
