Biography

Born in 1955 at Yimirshika, Hawul LGA Borno State. Primary School at Yimirshika 1963-1969; Secodary School at Waka Secondary School 1969-73; North East College of Arts and Science (NECAS), Maiduguri 1973-75; B.Sc. Political Science at A.B.U Samaru Zaria 1975-78; NYSC at Ilara-Mokin Ondo State 1978-79; Worked at the Ministry of Information Borno State Aug-Oct 1979. Employed by the University of Maiduguri on Nov 6. 1979 as a Graduate Assistant and rose to the rank of Professor on Oct 1, 1998. Had M.A Pol Science with specialization in Pub. Admin at Ohio Univ Athens Oh  U.S.A in 1981; and Ph.D in Public Admin at the University of Pittsburgh, U.S.A in 1984. Went to London School of Economics for Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Health Planning and Economics in 1990-91. Was Head of Dept. Pol Science & Admin, University of Maiduguri 1993-1997; Acting Dean, Faculty of Social and Management Sciences 1998-1999; Director, Centre for Peace, Diplomatic and Dev Studies-Univ of Maiduguri 2005-2014 and Dec 2015 to date; Director Centre for Strategic Planning Univ of Maiduguri April 2014 to date. Taught at the University of Jos Nigerua 1999-2000 on Sabbatical Leave; Adamawa a state Univ Mubi 2007-2008 on Sabbatical Leave. Was a Visiting Professor of Public Admin at Gombe State University from 2010-2013 and in Yobe State University, Damaturu 2013-2017. Has served as External Examiner in Political Science and Administration in six Universities. Areas of academic research are Public Policy Analysis, Health Planning and Management, Intergovernmental Relations and Peace and Conflict Resolution. Hobbies include Squash racket and General reading.
