Research cluster ‘Cultural practices – Learning through and in the arts’

The Graduate School ‚Performing Sustainability’ cooperates with the newly established research cluster ‘Cultural practices – Learning through and in the arts’ of the Netzwerk Forschung Kulturelle Bildung (Network Research in Arts Education) at the University of Hildesheim. The focus in 2021 lies on education through the arts in conflict situations in West-Africa.

In March 2021, during the Kick-off event at the digital conference “Ästhetik – Digitalität – Macht” Dr. Naomi Andrew Haruna (University of Maiduguri, Nigeria) presented the relevance of research approaches in cultural education in conflict regions in Northern Nigeria. In addition, Dr. Shadrach Teryila Ukuma (Benue State University, Nigeria) presented insights into his research results on the role of arts education in the context of collective trauma in the conflict between farmers and shepherds, using the example of performances.
