Researcher in Machine Learning / Deep Learning (m/f/d)

The newly established research group “Data Science” at the Institute of Computer Science of the University of Hildesheim offers a full-time research position in the area of machine learning and deep learning. Depending on the background of the candidate, different specific research topics within these fields can be pursued. The position is initially limited to a period of two years with an option for contract extension. The salary amounts to TV-L E13 (between approximately 50.000 € and 63.000 € annually depending on prior experience and qualifications).
Responsibilities of the candidate include the development and application of state-of-the-art machine learning methods and participation in teaching activities of the Data Science research group. The research group takes part in several national and international research projects which focus on different aspects and applications of machine learning techniques.
The Department of Computer Science at the University of Hildesheim has a strong focus on research and teaching in artificial intelligence, machine learning and software engineering. It features an International Master Program in Data Analytics that attracts outstanding students from all over the world. Hildesheim is a beautiful town with UNESCO World Heritage Sites and can also easily be reached from Hanover by a metro rail link.

We are looking for applicants that either have a Master Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or Mathematics with strong prior knowledge of machine learning or a Ph.D. degree in Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related subject.
Applicants are expected to have strong analytical and programming skills. They should be able to pursue research independently, and should be motivated to contribute to the teaching activities of the group to the extent of 4 semester hours per week. Fluency in written and spoken English is required for the position.
