Transformations in the digital age - international workshop

General information

With the Covid19 pandemic, which is forcing societies to rely on digital technologies more extensively and exclusively than ever before, we have entered a new phase of transformations in the digital age. While on the one hand, major sociotechnical trends of digitalisation and growing societal concerns might have been accelerated and have been made more pressing under the onholding pandemic state of exception, on the other hand, we might also observe discontinuities or fundamental changes in what the digital means to our societies, how digital technologies are used, perceived and regulated. All this does affect political spaces in particular, both with respect to its constitutive (e.g. democratisation, (trans-)nationalisation etc.) and performative dimensions (e.g. political representation, participation and protest).

The international workshop on the "Transformation of the political spaces" is the second event in a series of workshops on “transformations in the digital age”, organized by an international network of academic institutions, including LUISS University in Rome, Hildesheim University, University of Granada and the Technical University of Dresden.

The second workshop will take place at the University of Granada on 6 and 7 October 2022. The workshop is supported by the Minstry of Science and Culture of the state of Lower Saxony in Germany.
