Stélia Muianga

Stélia Muianga is a PhD candidate in Philosophy, holder of a Master’s degree in Philosophy and a Bachelor’s degree in Teaching Philosophy from the Universidade Pedagógica de Maputo (UP-Maputo), where she lectures and coordinates the Philosophical Writing Commission in the Department of Philosophical Studies. Her research focuses on African philosophy and intercultural philosophy. Her doctoral research focuses on the hermeneutics of myth as an intercultural philosophical alternative from Africa. She is a member of research groups on the African Gender Perspective and on National Reconciliation, both at UP-Maputo.

She has participated as a speaker in national and international academic events, namely in Namibia, Germany and the United Kingdom. She undertook doctoral research stays at the University of Nairobi (Kenya), at the Alumni meeting of CODESRIA/ZASB (Senegal), at Epistemologies of the South (Portugal) and at the Basel Summer School in African Studies (Switzerland), strengthening her engagement with global networks of critical and decolonial thought.

Stélia is co-editor of the volume Moçambique Neoliberal: Perspectivas Críticase Teóricas da Práxis and a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal O Curandeiro: Revista Moçambicana de Filosofia.
