Prof. Ike Odimegwu

Ike Ferd-Harris Odimegwu is a Professor of Philosophy at the Department of Philosophy, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Nigeria. He obtained his degrees from Pontifical Urban University; and University of Nigeria, specializing in African Metaphysical Anthropology, Dialogics, and Social and Political Philosophy. His research interests include Human Personhood & Identity, African Social Existence; Dialogics, Transcoloniality and Migration. He has published over 70 journal articles, book chapters and reviews. His published and edited books include Integrative Personhood, Perspectives on African Communalism, and Philosophic Foundations of Politics. His published monographs include Thoughts & Feelings Series, Our Identity Stories Series, Ike Odimegwu Maxims Series. Ike Odimegwu’s poems have appeared in a number of anthologies including Crucibles (2005), Water Testaments (2008) and Radical Rhythms (2010). His short stories are published in Kpim of Death (2007) and African Literature and Development in the 21st Century (2009). His collections of poems are published in the anthologies Genius Tell Not! and Returning Departures and Other Musings

Ike Odimegwu has been Visiting Professor to Ahmadu Bello University; University of Cape Coast; and Visiting Research Professor at the Center for Research in Values and Philosophy, Catholic University of America. He has been active in a number of academic professional associations. He is a member of the Association of Professional Philosophers of Nigeria (APPON); Association of Global South Studies (AGSS); Two-Term Vice President (Africa) of African Studies Research Forum (ASRF), and founding President of African Philosophy Society (APS). He has served as Head, Department of Philosophy; Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies; Director, Centre for Migration Studies; Director of Academic Planning and Chairman of various Senate Committees at Nnamdi Azikiwe University. Currently, he is the Director, Awka Window on America at the University. He was recently appointed into the Governing Council of Shanahan University as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman.
