Prof. Ernest-Marie Mbonda

Ernest-Marie Mbonda is a philosopher specializing in ethics, political philosophy, African philosophy, and decolonial theories. He began his academic career as a professor at the Catholic University of Central Africa in Cameroon, where he taught ethics and political philosophy. Over the years, he has also been affiliated with Canadian institutions, including the University of Moncton, the University of Quebec in Rimouski, and the University of Quebec in Montreal. His research focuses on justice, human rights, cosmopolitanism, and the decolonization of knowledge, with a particular emphasis on Central Africa. He has authored several influential books, including Pouvoir, droits et justice en Afrique (2024), Une décolonisation de la pensée (2021), and Cosmopolitisme et universalité des droits humains (2014). His numerous academic articles address topics such as ethnic justice, human development, hospitality ethics, and corporate social responsibility. His work critically engages with Rawlsian justice, African ethical frameworks, and the global implications of decolonial thought.
