ELAZ Conference at the University of Hildesheim, Germany, July 28th - August 1st, 2014

ELAZ Conference at the University of Hildesheim, Germany

July 28th - August 1st, 2014

Info: All fields of or related to elementary or analytic number theory. This biannual meeting is bringing together researchers from various branches of number theory and provide a pleasant basis for stimulating mathematical exchange, in particular for younger mathematicians from different countries. As usual, there will be the opportunity for longer lectures, shorter talks and discussions. Wednesday, July 30th, will be dedicated to Wolfgang Schwarz. Friends and colleagues will honour his life and scientific work in a series of talks.

Invited speakers are:

  • Valentin Blomer (Georg-August-Universität Göttingen) : Counting in hyperbolic spikes
  • Jörg Brüdern (Georg-August-Universität Göttingen) : Anisotropic Diagonal Forms
  • Karl Dilcher (Dalhousie University): Irreducibility and factorization results for some classes of polynomials
  • Christian Elsholtz (Technische Universität Graz): The additive decomposability of sets
  • Karl-Heinz Indlekofer (Universität Paderborn): Arithmetische Funktionen - ein Schwerpunktthema im wissenschaftlichen Werk von Wolfgang  Schwarz
  • Aleksandar Ivić (Univerzitet u Beogradu): On some selected works of  Wolfgang Schwarz
  • Simon Kristensen (Aarhus Universitet): Fourier theoretic methods in metric Diophantine approximation
  • Lutz Lucht (Technische Universität Clausthal): Remembering Wolfgang Schwarz, his life and work
  • Helmut Maier (Universität Ulm): Trigonometric series with arithmetic coefficients
  • Pieter Moree (Max-Planck-Institut für Mathematik): Cyclotomic coefficients yesterday and tomorrow
  • Nicola Oswald (Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg): Was the Hildesheim mathematician Adolf Hurwitz an entertainer? - Some examples of recreational mathematics in his diaries
  • Samuel Patterson (Georg-August-Universität Göttingen): Selberg sums - a new viewpoint
  • Janos Pintz (Hungarian Academy of Sciences): On some conjectures of Erdös about gaps between consecutive primes
