Dieses Jahr reisen junge Musikethnolog*innen aus Chicago, Bloomington, Cambridge, Princeton, New York, Florida (USA), Montreal, Toronto (Kanada), Maiduguri (Nigeria), Beijing, Hong Kong (China), London (England), Paris (Frankreich), Trondheim (Norwegen), Wien (Österreich) und Göttingen (Deutschland) nach Hildesheim.
Um aus ihrer Forschung zu berichten, reisen junge Wissenschaftler*innen aus vielen Teilen der Welt nach Norddeutschland: Die Musikhochschule in Hannover und die Stiftung Universität Hildesheim unterstützen den Forschungsnachwuchs. Seit fünfzehn Jahren bauen sie ein Doktorand*innennetzwerk in der Musikethnologie aus. Bisher nahmen über 200 junge Fachleute an den Workshops teil. Einmal im Jahr tagen sie eine Woche am Center for World Music in Hildesheim. Das CWM hat sich so auch im Ausland als wichtige Institution der Nachwuchsförderung etablieren können.
