Schoormann, T., Behrens, D. und Knackstedt, R. (2018): The Noblest Way to Learn Wisdom is by Reflection: Designing Software Tools for Reflecting Sustainability in Business Models. In: Proceedings of the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS), San Francisco, USA.

Abstract des Artikels:

Business models can boost fundamental changes in behavior to act more economically, ecologically, and socially. To support the development of such business models, various approaches like business model notations and software tools have been proposed. However, while most of these approaches focus on economic aspects, ecological and social sustainability is rather neglected. In this article, we report on a design science study, in which we explore how to design information systems that effectively facilitate reflection of sustainability in business models in a multidimensional manner. Drawing on theoretical work, we iteratively derive design requirements and design principles as well as implement them in the form of a software prototype to demonstrate the feasibility. Doing so, we aim to contribute to the design knowledge that can be projected into concrete IT-artifacts and help practitioners to reflect sustainability already during the construction of a business model or during the analysis of existing ones.
