  • Information Retrieval
  • Natural Language Processing
  • Social networks
  • Information Management

The close integration of Information Science in the faculty and the proximity to both the Department of Translation Studies and Technical Communication and the Department of Intercultural Communication are highly suitable for international study programs and research.

Information Science in Hildesheim has a leading position in international research on evaluation and information retrieval. We cooperate with several German "Information Centers" (Fachinformationszentren) and have a focus on the innovative field of internationalization of information systems.

We offer teaching in Natural Language Processing and methods of text-based computational linguistics. Our research includes the following areas. Please also see our page on Natural Language Processing.

  • Digital language resources (e-dictionaries, text corpora, tools for Natural Language Processing)
  • Data extraction from texts, including lexis, grammar, phraseology and technical writing
  • Digital Humanities
  • Computational Social Sciences
  • Usability of online language resources (e.g. e-dictionaries)
