Prof. Dr. Michael Wrase

Michael Wrase ist Professor für Öffentliches Recht mit den Schwerpunkten Sozial- und Bildungsrecht am Institut für Sozial- und Organisationspädagogik der Universität Hildesheim und am Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin für Sozialforschung (WZB). Die Professur beruht auf einer gemeinsamen Berufung der Universität und des WZB. Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte liegen in den Bereichen Verfassungsrecht, Bildungsrecht, Sozialrecht, Antidiskriminierungsrecht und Rechtssoziologie. In der Lehre liegen die Schwerpunkte im Bildungsrecht, dem Sozialrecht und den Grundlagen des Sozialstaats.

Michael Wrase is Professor of Public Law with special emphasis on social and education law at the University of Hildesheim and a fellow at the Social Research Center Berlin (WZB) in the president´s working group. From October 2014 to March 2015 he held a visiting professorship at the Faculty of Law of the University of Münster, Westphalia. In 2015 he was a Mercator Fellow at the WZB and a visiting scholar at the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies at the University of Oxford. His research covers constitutional law, education law, social law, antidiscrimination law and socio-legal studies. He is particularly interested in the social impacts of state regulation and the interrelation between law and social reality. He lectures on education law, social law and the legal foundations of the welfare state.
