The University of Hildesheim is the first university Masters programme of its kind in Germany that offers the consecutive model (BA/MA) for management and development functions in the social services sector. Entry to the Masters programme directly after the Bachelor's degree is possible from the 2004/05 winter semester. The course offers in-depth specialist and methodology training, as well as research skills in approaches to acting and intervening in organizations that are viewed in content terms from the perspective of social changes and learning opportunities.

The connection of theoretical with practical study elements is a decisive aspect of the scientific qualification. A six-month organization training placement is included in the programme and is regarded as an integral part of the course, in addition to the students' methodology training, theoretical courses, and an independent research project (Master's dissertation). All elements can be combined with plenty of opportunities for individual choice.

The Masters programme is suited as a basis for a highly qualified professional career as well as advanced qualification for professionals currently in, or aspiring to management positions in organizations, and as preparation for a doctoral study programme and academic career.
