Stress-free parking for everyone: Please use the alternate parking spaces

The 2026 summer semester starts now in April. This means that the university parking spots on the main campus will start to fill up. To make it easier to find a parking spot, you can use the parking facilities at the South Cemetery and the Marienburger Höhe sports complex.

“Searching for parking in the surrounding streets leads to unproductive traffic, which generates avoidable emissions and noise,” explains Thomas Hanold, the university’s director of construction. “We therefore ask students and staff to be considerate and use the alternative parking lots.”

Especially at the start of the semester, the streets and driveways on Allensteiner Straße and Ortelsburger Straße around the main campus are increasingly used for parking. However, parking spaces are scarce here. Therefore, the university asks that, especially during peak hours from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., people use the parking facilities at the South Cemetery and the Marienburger Höhe sports complex. Free parking spaces are available here within walking distance.

Employees and students who face particular time constraints when coming to the university due to childcare or caregiving responsibilities may use the family parking lot in the parking area near Building W. All information regarding the required special parking permit can be found here.

With summer and sunshine in mind, biking to campus is also a great option. For added convenience, covered bike racks - including a repair station - are available between the Forum (N Building) and the sports building. Good for stress-free parking and for the climate.
