The university-wide framework examination regulations (RPO) are now in effect

Effective April 1, 2026, the university-wide framework examination regulations (Rahmenprüfungsordnung - short RPO) will apply to all bachelor’s and master’s degree programs at the University of Hildesheim. The RPO establishes regulations that apply across all degree programs. Here are the most important changes.
For the first time, there are university-wide framework examination regulations (RPO) for bachelor’s and master’s programs at the University of Hildesheim. The Framework Examination Regulation (RPO) applies in conjunction with the examination regulations of the individual degree programs. They standardize and expand upon existing regulations. This includes, among other things, declaration of independent work and originality in the context of AI use, the English translation of degree documents, and the handling of attempted deceit with regard to examination law. Another new feature is that, in the future, not only students with chronic illnesses and disabilities will be able to apply for academic adjustments, but also students with family responsibilities. Important for students: The RPO automatically applies to all Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs; it does not require a transfer to new examination regulations!
Uniform regulations for all Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs
The RPO replaces the “University-wide Framework Examination Regulations of the University of Hildesheim Governing the Use of Digital Teaching and Learning Formats as well as Digital Examination Formats,” which were established during the COVID-19 pandemic. Prof. Dr. Jürgen Sander, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Teaching, and Student Affairs and Chair of the ZKSL (Central Commission for Academic Affairs and Teaching), explains: “The university-wide framework examination regulations represent a major step forward in the programme development at the University of Hildesheim. With the collaboration and involvement of many stakeholders from the academic and administrative sectors, a uniform legal basis has been established for all Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes, which will provide guidance and define quality-assured, cross-programme regulations for teaching and learning. On behalf of the University Management, I would like to express my sincere thanks to all those involved for their work!”
The new RPO standardizes key aspects with regard to examination law for the degree programs at the University of Hildesheim. At the same time, it offers flexibility and room for subject-specific regulations within the various degree programs.
The RPO website explains the most important topics and changes in a concise and target-group-specific manner for students, faculty, examiners, standing examination committees, and programme coordinators.
