The Studien zur Kulturpolitik volumes are edited by Professor Wolfgang Schneider. They look at areas of political science that are related to musicology, cultural studies, and theater and film studies.The series of monographs present research projects on cultural policy and arts funding with particular reference to film and theater.

Article 32 of the German Constitution states that 'Relations with foreign states shall be conducted by the Federation'. 'Relations' are cultivated by diplomacy and economic relationships. The third pillar of foreign policy is foreign cultural policy, which is the focus here. Dialogue and exchange by means of the arts and culture are elements of political science and cultural studies. Cultural policy studies analyze and reflect the aims and achievements of the projects and programs run by 'intermediary organizations'. The series looks at the theory and practice of foreign cultural policy at national level, in comparative international discourse, and in the framework of European integration.
