Cultural Policy Change in the Arab Region

In the wake of the so-called Arab Spring, the Hildesheim UNESCO Chair has been focusing strongly on the Arab region. It looks at the role of artists in the processes of social and political transformation, and considers the impact of cultural policy on changing government structures. In November 2016 the UNESCO Chair worked with Moroccan and Tunisian partners to organize a tri-national research workshop in Tunis. The main focus was on actions in the area of cultural policy relating to the arts and sociopolitical processes as part of international cooperation. The aim of the research workshop was to open the debate on cultural policy, cultural management and cultural dissemination in Tunisia and Morocco in the wake of the recent upheavals.
