This lecture series takes the transatlantic space between Africa and the Americas as its starting point to highlight philosophical interconnections that have emerged from shared yet conflict-ridden historical experiences of colonialism, slavery, racism, and resistance. The focus is on forms of knowledge, memory, and identity that have emerged across continents, languages, and historical contexts. In addition to movements such as Négritude, decolonialism, and feminism, the series will also discuss indigenous philosophies and concepts such as Ubuntu and Nepantla, as well as issues of land, territory, and ecological responsibility.
