to the website of the Translang² project - Intercultural sensitization to linguistic diversity for educational processes at the Centre for Teacher Training and Educational Research at the University of Hildesheim!

The aim of the project is to integrate the subject of multilingualism in its multi-layered theoretical, intercultural and pedagogical-didactic dimensions into the teacher education curriculum and thus make a contribution to the internationalization of teacher education. Translang² is made possible by funding from the DAAD's “Lehramt.International - Model Projects at Universities” program.

Below we have compiled background information on multilingualism in the classroom and on translanguaging as a teaching approach for more equality in education. On these pages, you will also find a presentation of our project activities for preservice teachers, teaching faculty/researchers and other interested stakeholders. Please also note event announcements, calls for applications and important news under “News”. Of course, we are also happy to hear from you personally if you would like to schedule an office hour, a professional development coaching or cooperate with us.  You can find the contact details of the relevant contact person on our team page.

Teacher Translanguaging Camp 23–27 June 2025 (TTC)

This year, under the focus theme "Multilingualism and Translanguaging in Subject Teaching", you can look forward to engaging specialist lectures and workshops from multilingualism researchers from an international perspective, taking place each day from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. CET between 23 and 27 June 2025.

For the first time, the International Students' Forum will offer a new format designed to provide international and Hildesheim-based teacher education students with a low-threshold opportunity to make transnational connections, exchange experiences before, during, and after their study abroad, and learn from one another on equal footing. All sessions of the International Students' Forum will take place in a hybrid format (online and on-site) and will be conducted in both German and English. Translanguaging is welcome.

We are also offering, for the first time, a professional development workshop program through the Teacher Educators' Lab, specifically designed for HE educators at the University of Hildesheim and its international partner universities.
All sessions of the Teacher Educators' Lab will take place in a hybrid format (online and on-site) and will be conducted in both German and English.
Translanguaging is welcome.

You can find the TTC program below. Registration is still open. External participants can register via the attached LimeSurvey form, and UHi students and instructors via the LSF or by contacting translang@uni-hildesheim.de.
