Start of studies: Wintersemester only
Degree Programme: Currently subject to admission restrictions
Standard duration of study: 4 semesters
Mode of Study: Full-time or part-time study
Degree awarded: Master of Arts (M.A.)
With the unique Master’s degree programme in Cultural Promotion, Cultural Policy, and Transformation in the Context of the Arts (M.A.)—the only one of its kind in Germany—students have the opportunity to acquire in-depth scientific, artistic-creative, and cultural management knowledge. They reflect on and develop concepts of Cultural Promotion and carry out their own Research Project in an environment that, with its other artistic and scientific Degree Programs, offers a wealth of inspiration for this purpose.
The Degree Programme is based on a broad understanding of Cultural Promotion, which includes, among other things, the following functions and goals:
- Art Education: Creating access to art and to discourses within the context of art
- Development of aesthetic competencies: Developing artistic and creative methods and competencies
- Cultural education: Initiating cultural competence in the sense of interpretive competence and the ability
to engage in independent aesthetic creation; encouraging participation in and active involvement with cultural life - Cultural Policy: Creating cultural, socio-political, and administrative structures and
framework conditions that enable cultural participation - Cultural marketing and cultural PR: Generating attention, interest, and demand for art and increasing its relevance for diverse social milieus
At the heart of the program is the execution of your own project, which may include both scientific and artistic components (“Research Project”). Together with a mentor, you will receive intensive and individualized support throughout the four semesters of the program as you plan, execute, and evaluate your project.
