Support from the Social Fund

Please note that during the transition between semesters, when we receive a higher volume of applications, processing incoming applications may take longer than usual. We appreciate your understanding.
BAföG, loans, and credit programs generally provide financial relief for students. The Social Fund cannot replace these financing options, some of which are long-term. Applying for these options often involves a significant amount of bureaucratic red tape. Despite these options, acute cases of hardship may arise that require quick and less bureaucratic assistance.
For this reason, the Social Fund of the University of Hildesheim Foundation offers supplementary financial support to enrolled students who, through no fault of their own, have fallen into social and financial distress, in order to enable them to continue and complete their studies. All students of the University of Hildesheim Foundation are eligible to apply starting from their second semester.
Please note, however, that this is a one-time grant that primarily takes into account the personal and social circumstances of the applicant and can only be awarded in urgent emergency situations affecting their studies.
Application deadlines
Grant applications can be submitted at any time of the year. The Social Fund team generally strives to process applications as quickly as possible. However, processing an application can take up to four weeks. Workloads often increase at the start of the semester and at the end of the year, which can further delay the processing of applications.
Consulting
The Social and Financial Counseling Office of the Studierendenwerk Ost Niedersachsen is available to provide you with a confidential consultation regarding your individual, personal, and financial situation. We ask all students to always contact the Social and Financial Counseling Service of the Studierendenwerk Ost Niedersachsen first to receive advice on long-term student financing. Apply for funding
This funding is intended to help you continue your studies or enable you to complete them. Applications can be submitted at any time. Applications will be processed and a decision on potential support made as quickly as possible. If your application is successful, a maximum of €1,000 will be awarded. Applications must be submitted online. You will find the link to the application portal at the bottom of the page.
What happens after I submit my documents?
- Verifying that the application is complete and that the information provided is accurate.
- Notifying you by email that your application has been received; requesting any missing documents where necessary.
- Processing the application as quickly as possible and deciding on potential support from the Social Fund.
- Applicants will be notified of the decision as soon as possible via email.
