Students can apply for financial aid under the Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG) to help cover their living expenses. Whether BAföG is granted and the amount awarded depend on the income of the parents, the spouse, and the student’s own income and assets. The financial aid amounts are also based on actual need. In addition, childcare supplements, BAföG for study abroad, or graduation assistance during the exam period may be available.
