The EXPLAIN project focused on improving the use of Artificial Intelligence in industrial production environments. Its main goal was to enhance explainability across the entire development and operational lifecycle of AI systems. This included both technical methods for explainability and mechanisms for human-in-the-loop feedback during operations.

As part of the consortium, the Software Systems Engineering (SSE) group at the University of Hildesheim contributed to the project by designing an overarching MLOps-based architecture and advancing automation techniques for MLOps processes.
