The SSE project team of the DevOpt project<https://sse.uni-hildesheim.de/forschung/projekte/devopt/> has successfully received the Best Paper Award for their publication "Control Action Types - Patterns of Applied Control for Self-adaptive Systems" at the International Symposium on Software Engineering for Adaptive and Self-Managing Systems (SEAMS), a Core-A ranked conference. This is a highly successful conclusion to a series of publications addressing the question: how can distributed, emergently (i.e., self-organized) controlled systems be combined with central control to achieve optimal results.

In the process, we were able to identify several generic patterns that can be successfully applied and describe their advantages and disadvantages. This provides a systematic catalog of design options that can be used in the implementation of such systems.
