Intercultural Qualification

Intercultural Short Series

For several semesters now, we have been offering the IO's Intercultural Short Series, a series of short workshops with changing intercultural topics. This is open for students, doctoral candidates and staff! Registration is also possible without LSF enrolment via our registration form.

The workshops each last three hours and can be recognised with 0.5 ECTS per attended event. So you can also collect ECTS across the semesters.

The trainer Lina Chihabi will be conducting the workshop.

Topics and dates in the winter semester 2025/2026 :

All four sessions will be taking place online in BBB from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Beruf International

Then join the workshop “Beruf International”!

Accreditation depending on your department: 2-3 ECTS

Requirement: Participation and reflection paper

The workshop will probably take place in the summer semester 2026.

International Society

Then attend the workshop "International Society" - because transcultural societies are the norm and not the exception now!

Language: English

Recognition depending on department: 2 - 3 ECTS in Studium Generale / Fundamentale / foreign module

Recognition for exchange students: 2 ECTS

Dates for the winter semester 2025/26:

This workshop will take place as a two-day block seminar from March 27, 2026 to March 28, 2026 and will be conducted by our trainer Lina Chihabi.

Being Buddies

Then we recommend the Buddy Programm of the International Office! We offer an accompanying program every semester, in which you can participate as a buddy couple.

The University of Hildesheim also offers many other great opportunities to support international students. Participation in the International Writing Partnerships, a language tandem or participation in the DAWID project or the Erasmus Student Network can also be credited for the Certificate for Intercultural Communication and Competence (CICC).

Then become a peer tutor!  Shortly before the start of the winter semester, our peer tutor qualification will take place for all those who would like to help design and hold intercultural workshops. If you are interested, just contact us (intkult(at)uni-hildesheim.de) and we will send you more information!

Certificate for Intercultural Communication and Competence (CICC)

You can earn the Certificate of Intercultural Communication and Competence (CICC) during your studies. This certificate attests to your intercultural experience, reflection and intercultural commitment. In case you have any questions, come to our consulation hours. It takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. by appointment (intkult(at)uni-hildesheim.de), either online in BBB or in room HC.N.2.45 (Forum).


Interdisciplinary Key Competences (FüSK)

Other great workshops in the intercultural context and beyond can be found in the Interdisciplinary Key Competences (FüSK) section of the central student advisory service (ZSB) for students.

In case of any question regarding the CICC or the intercultural workshops, we do offer consultation hours.
