Affiliation Guidelines

When publishing academic articles, please ensure that the University of Hildesheim and your institute are correctly named. You can find guidelines on this in the Affiliation Policy.

Persistent Identifiers

Persistent identifiers (PID) are used to uniquely identify resources, individuals, and organizations in academia and beyond. These include, for example:

• DOI for digital objects
• ORCID and GND for individuals
• ROR for organizations

Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) are used for digital objects such as scientific publications of all kinds. These include journal articles, e-books, book chapters, abstracts, posters, and research data.

At the University Library of Hildesheim, DOIs are assigned for publications in HilPub, the University Press of Hildesheim, and HilReDa.

Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID) enables the association of scholarly activities such as publications, projects, and awards with a specific individual. ORCID is tied to the individual and is therefore independent of their place of employment and other changes. The ORCID iD is requested and managed by the individuals themselves. It is free of charge and is increasingly used for authentication via Single Sign-On (SSO) on the internet.

Members of the University of Hildesheim create their own ORCID profile, thereby increasing the visibility of their research. Alternatively, the GND ID can be provided.

The Gemeinsame Normdatei (GND) is created by the German National Library, usually in connection with a (scholarly) publication.

In connection with publications by the University of Hildesheim Press, GND IDs are created for authors if they do not already exist.

The Research Organization Registry (ROR) assigns PIDs to research organizations.
