The social responsibility of the natural sciences goes beyond the generation of new technologies and scientific findings. It includes an educational mission designed to empower people to make responsible, sustainability-oriented decisions in modern societies. This ambitious task requires thinking beyond disciplinary boundaries and cooperating with all institutions involved in the education process in order to promote comprehensive science education in research and teaching. We attach great importance to interdisciplinary and long-term cooperation with partner schools, regional educational institutions, associations, and other institutions.

Our Main Focuses:

Our Projects:

In June 2016, the cooperation Project "NanoBiNE – Nano Technologies in the Context of an Education for Sustainable Development“ began, which we conduct in cooperation with the University of Göttingen, the University of Oldenburg, and the IPN in Kiel. The project is supported through the German Federal Environmental Foundation (DBU). Among other things, we are able to offer a new strengthened student laboratory named "NanoScience“

Within the scope of the the project "Inclusive Teacher Education" with the Center for Teacher Education and Educational Research (CeLeB) and the Platform Future Inclusion (ZINK), we offered a workshop on the topic "Inclusion as a Science Education Challenge" that has also been integrated into the study structure of the winter 2016/17 term.

A joint research project is currently in the planning with the Molitoris School in Harsum, the Sabine Blindow School in Hannover, and the Society for Biological Analysis (GBA). The goal is the establishment of a regional network for STEM-promotion.

In the area of environmental analysis, we concentrate mainly on water analysis. Currently, two dissertation projects are concerned with the Occurrence and Behavior of Anthropogenic Organic Pollutants in the Innerste River.
