PhD at the Institute

For over twenty years, a growing number of doctoral students have been doing their doctoral projects at our institute. Through individual supervision and regular exchange, we offer a framework for productive and accomplished research work. Twice a year, at the beginning of February and the beginning of July, all doctoral students meet for a colloquium on our cultural campus. A large number of doctoral students have also successfully obtained scholarships or other funding.

Researchers interested in doctoral projects are asked to prepare an initial short exposé (approx. 1 page with research topic, questions and possible methods) and send it to the potential supervising professor (Prof. Dr. Julius Heinicke, Prof. Dr. Birgit Mandel, Prof. Dr. Vanessa Einwand-Weiss).

Possible topics come from the broad field of cultural policy, cultural management, cultural mediation and arts education and are often - but not required - related to current research projects of the institute's professors.
