Comic Event at PULS, July 4, 2023
Wednesday, June 14, 2023 - 13:21 CET
On July 4, our event "KABOUM! Exhibition and Workshops on Contemporary Comic Culture from a Franco-German Perspective" took place at PULS on Angoulêmeplatz to mark the 60th anniversary of the Élysée Treaty and the city partnership between Angoulême and Hildesheim.
On 4 July, our event “KABOUM! Exhibition and workshops on contemporary comic culture from a Franco-German perspective” took place at PULS on Angoulêmeplatz. To mark the 60th anniversary of the Élysée Treaty and the town twinning between Angoulême and Hildesheim, we joined forces with comic artists from Germany and France to gain a deep insight into the creative work and significance of the current comic scene in both countries. There was a varied all-day programme, featuring a comic exhibition, literature, workshops and activities on Angoulême Square, funded by the Franco-German University. We invited people of all ages to drop by on the day and turn PULS into a shared space for exchange. The artists showcased their own works and enabled us to engage more closely with art within a binational context.
Between 9.00 am and 1.00 pm, there were various parallel workshops with school classes from Hildesheim, followed by a public exhibition and activities on Angoulême Square from 2.00 pm, as well as a performative reading at 7.00 pm, followed by a discussion with the artists.
This event is organised by Master’s students in Cultural Mediation at the University of Hildesheim under the supervision of Daniel Gad.
In addition, the celebration of the new PULS façade took place on 4 July at 6.00 pm as part of this collaboration.
PULS and the City of Hildesheim cordially invited guests to celebrate the new design of the building’s façade that evening – and, in doing so, the friendship and cooperation with the twin town of Angoulême. Guests included representatives from the Angoulême Comic Museum “la cité internationale de la bande dessinée et de l’image”, the City of Hildesheim, PULS e.V. and many others.
The artist behind the façade design, Julie Gore, had visited Hildesheim the previous week.
