Dominika Cohn

PhD Project "Inside choreography. Participative choreographic works in contemporary dance" (completed)

Dominika Cohn dedicated her research project to participatory choreographic projects, as they have increasingly emerged in the field of contemporary dance in the last two decades. The focus was on works in which the audience is physically involved in the moment of performance in such a way that they become part of the choreography. The touches, movements and encounters between participants and performers initiated by the respective choreographies were examined by Ms. Cohn as a specific form of reception.

The aim of the dissertation project was to describe corporal-sensual participation in choreography as a form of aesthetic practice and to question it with regard to both its aesthetic and political significance.
