Your worst fear, your best fantasy - (Non-) consensual communication methods and procedures in the rehearsal work on the representation of sex and intimacy in theater and film based on the ethnographic observation of the work of intimacy coordination

My research project envisages the queer-feminist contoured praxeological investigation of rehearsal work. I am currently observing a strong change within the field of rehearsal work. I am particularly struck by the appearance of a new figure and form of work: intimacy coordination. Directing teams are increasingly working with an intimacy coach. According to my observation, their methods are fed by the adoption of practices from certain sex-positive contexts and can be traced back and located in the movements and political history of (queer) feminism. But what does the contemporary adoption of such procedures in the rehearsal context of these art practices mean? What effects does it have on the structure of the director-actor-team-triangle? And how does such a way of working change the aesthetics of what is depicted?

In my research, I pursue these questions and examine the (non-) consensual modes of communication in artistic rehearsal processes, traditional and experimental strategies for staging sex and intimacy based on the work of intimacy coordination, and look for alternative forms of communication and representations of a sexual knowledge practice that are based on subcultures and queer feminist theories.
