Dominika Cohn

Inside choreography. Participative choreographic works in contemporary dance

Dominika Cohn’s research project deals with participative choreographic works as a current phenomenon in contemporary dance. The focus of the project is on choreographic works that physically involve the audience and that can be seen as art works ‘in their own right’. Dominika Cohn investigates the movements initiated between the participants and the performers by the individual choreographies as a specific form of aesthetic practice.

The aim of this dissertation project is to examine a set of selected examples in order to describe participative choreographic works as an aesthetic phenomenon and to discuss its possible significance both in terms of their reception and in a broader social and political context.
