Ethis Committee of Faculty 1
Responsibilities of the Ethics Committee
In recent years, ethical issues in the context of research have been discussed more intensively, leading many professional associations and scientific institutions to publish ethical guidelines and standards. As part of this discussion, expert opinions from ethics committees are increasingly being requested, for example, when submitting research project proposals or publishing research findings. The Ethics Committee of the Faculty of Education and Social Sciences sees itself as a body that advises researchers of the Faculty on ethical issues in these processes upon request. Upon request, the committee then issues an ethical review.
Application
The applicant(s) must submit the documents relevant to the ethical review exclusively by email to the following address:
The documents must be accompanied by a statement from the applicant(s) confirming that the application has not already been submitted to another ethics committee. The Ethics Committee has established a standard procedure for reviewing research projects. Guidelines for submitting applications and a template for a short application are available via the links provided.
Information on Applying
To facilitate a prompt and thorough review, we ask applicants to present their materials in a concise and focused manner. The application should focus on the information essential for the ethical review and include a clear, structured description of the planned study.
In particular, we ask that the application clearly state:
- the scientific rationale and objectives of the study
- the key methodological steps and study design
- the individuals involved and their responsibilities
- the type of data collected
- the handling of the collected data (data protection, storage, use)
To ensure an efficient review process, the application (excluding attachments) should not exceed 10 pages. Very lengthy or unfocused applications can significantly prolong the processing time.
In addition to the application, we ask that you download and complete the data protection checklist and submit it along with the application. The data protection questionnaire is available for download here.
We thank you for providing a clear description of your project and for your cooperation in ensuring an efficient review of your application.
