International workshop for doctoral students in ethnomusicology
14th PhD Student Workshop 2024 from 18th to 21st June
Centre for World Music of the University of Hildesheim in cooperation with the University of Music and Drama Hannover and the Centre Marc Bloch (CMB).
This year, young ethnomusicologists from Chicago, Bloomington, Cambridge, Princeton, New York, Florida (USA), Montreal, Toronto (Canada), Maiduguri (Nigeria), Beijing, Hong Kong (China), London (England), Paris, Bayonne (France), Trondheim (Norway), Vienna (Austria) and Göttingen (Germany) will travel to Hildesheim.
Young academics from many parts of the world travel to northern Germany to report on their research: the Hanover University of Music and the University of Hildesheim Foundation support young researchers. For fifteen years, they have been developing a doctoral student network in ethnomusicology. So far, more than 200 young experts have taken part in the workshops. Once a year, they meet for a week at the Center for World Music in Hildesheim. The CWM has thus also been able to establish itself abroad as an important institution for the promotion of young researchers.
Here you can find an overview of this years programme.
