Approaching ethnomusicology

Sunday, 05. September 2021 um 11:00 Uhr

The Center for World Music is a guest at "Hildesheimer Wallungen" 2021

The Center for World Music, with its diverse range of workshops, concerts and educational projects, is also represented this year at the "Hildesheimer Wallungen" - the "strolling festival of regional culture". Our Museum and our Music! is a collage of playful and explorative interactions by the Young Members of the Roemer- und Pelizaeusmuseum Association in cooperation with the CWM. Und du? ("And you?") is an invitation by the musician and ethnomusicologist Fernando Palacios to get to know instruments from the CWM's collections. Both events will take place on Sunday, 5 September 2021 from 11 am to 4 pm in Ernst-Ehrlicher Park. During this period, the events can be visited at any time.

Our Museum and our Music
Participatory music and museum education

5 September 2021 | 11am - 4pm | Ernst-Ehrlicher-Park Hildesheim

We JuMis are children and young people between the ages of 6 and 18 and we have prepared exciting STORIES, GAMES and PARTICIPATION ACTIVITIES. We invite everyone to get creative and have fun with us.

Do you like listening to music?  And if so, what kind?  And - on what occasions? Equipped with camera and microphone, we will go on a field trip. We want to find out what you understand by music, what music means to you and what role it plays in your life. The recordings may be used in the new ethnomusicological exhibition at the Center for World Music and in formats at the RPMuseum.
Visit us and join in!

Und du? (And you?)
An interactive sound experiment

05 September 2021 | 11am - 4pm | Ernst-Ehrlicher-Park Hildesheim

Pluck? Beat? Strike? In the sound creation workshop with the musician and ethnomusicologist Fernando Palacios Mateos, our visitors embark on a creative sound experiment. An artistic installation enables new approaches to the form, sound and cultural background of traditional musical instruments from the collections of the Center for World Music.
