Are you musically active? Are you interested in exploring the diversity of music and broadening your horizons? Are you a musician and have obtained your degree at home or abroad? The part-time degree programme "musik.welt" at the Center for World Music is starting a new round from the winter semester 2024/25.

musik.welt

Since 2011, 120 students from over 30 countries of origin have completed the further education programme "musik.welt - Cultural Diversity in Music Education". This Master's programme is application-oriented and teaches a diversity-conscious approach to music in theory and practice. The heterogeneity of the study group as well as learning from and with each other are central components of the programme and enable a change of perspective. For example, part of the programme consists of learning to play a previously unknown instrument. The programme also includes ethnomusicology, music education, community music, project management and many practical music workshops. The continuing education programme is aimed at anyone who works with the medium of music, regardless of age and background, such as musicians, composers, school teachers, social pedagogues and music educators. The programme is part-time and is also suitable for working people. The course dates for the entire degree programme will be publicly available from April 2024.

Centre for World Music

The Center for World Music is a centre for ethnomusicological research and teaching, a meeting place for musicians and a base for transnational encounters. As a centre of excellence with an international focus, regional commitment and local presence, it preserves important traces of global music-making and makes them accessible to academics, the public and source communities.
