Fine nuances, power and intimacy characterise the works of the Icelandic composer Anna Thorvaldsdottir (*1977). Her very personal ecosystem of sounds evokes the flowing together, growth and decay of natural processes as they can be observed in her home country Iceland. Depicting the enigmatic atmosphere of this fluid sound world is exactly the right terrain for musica assoluta pianist Eugene Shon. She will elicit a whole palette of unheard-of sounds from the piano and not only play on the keyboard, but also maltreat the interior of the sound body with mallets, jazz whisks and electromagnetic vibrations. Berlin presenter Meike Pfister will lead the evening.
