Our specialist areas

Department 1 Education & Social Sciences Faculty 1 is the largest faculty at the University of Hildesheim. With its nine institutes, it brings together disciplines such as Educational Science, Psychology, Social and Organizational Pedagogy, Theology, History, Social Sciences, Primary School Didactics & Elementary Science, and Sports Science. Through interdisciplinary research and practice-oriented teaching, it prepares students for responsible roles in education, society, and academia. The institutes are primarily located on the main campus.
Department 4 Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Business Informatics and Data Faculty 4 combines innovative research, practical teaching and interdisciplinary exchange. The focus is on analysis, development and digital transformation, both regionally and internationally. Scientific excellence and social responsibility shape its profile: this is where sustainable solutions to social challenges are developed – from fundamental research in mathematics to the development of new technologies and economic strategies.
