The three areas of sustainability

The principle of sustainability refers to at least three different areas: the ecological, the social and the economic. These three areas form a unity that must be brought together and thought through in accordance with the principle of sustainability.

Ecology:

Ecologically sustainable is a way of life that uses the earth’s natural resources only to the extent that they can regenerate themselves. In particular, this means to not overexploit nature and to use renewable resources.

The Social:

A society should be built fairly and justly for all people, and conflicts should be able to be resolved in a peaceful and civil manner.

Economy:

A society should not live beyond its means, but should manage its affairs in such a way that future generations are not exposed to inevitable losses. An economic system is considered sustainable if it can be operated over the long term.
