Sustainable Development Goal 3

ENSURING A HEALTHY LIFE FOR ALL PEOPLE OF ALL AGES AND PROMOTING THEIR WELL-BEING

Health is the goal, prerequisite and outcome of sustainable development. Its promotion is an imperative of humanity and a component of good governance – both in industrialized and developing countries.
However, the challenges in healthcare remain significant. For example, around 16,000 young children still die every day worldwide, very many of them from diseases that are preventable today. Improving the health situation of people is therefore one of the most important tasks.

What are the sub-goals?

How is the goal to be achieved?

SDG 3 is to be met by, among other things, implementing the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control. Developing countries that are significantly affected by certain communicable and non-communicable diseases should have access to affordable medicines and vaccines. Significantly increase health financing and recruitment, education, training, and retention of health workers in developing countries. All countries should strengthen their capacity in early warning, risk mitigation, and management of national and global health risks.
