Commitment to owl protection

The AG Eulenschutz is looking for support. Its members are committed to the protection and conservation of barn owls in the Hildesheim region.

Here are the experiences of team member Tamares: “I learned about the AG Eulenschutz of NABU through YOUR GOAL -YOUR ACTION and was immediately interested and motivated to get involved. While trying to start a project with the AG Eulenschutz in a group of 3, I could already dive into the work of the AG here and there. I have had a lot of fun working with AG Eulenschutz and still do. My project represents my voluntary support at the AG Eulenschutz, in which I would like to take you briefly. For one, I helped examine eagle owl pellets. Among the pellets were those of the deceased male eagle owl of the Hildesheim Cathedral. Here we separated and determined bones from the tubercles. What does an eagle owl actually eat? We could find out! In addition, I helped to build Julen in the nature reserve “Schwarze Heide”, which was captured on the project photo. Yes exactly: What are Julen? I was told yulks are like crutches for birds of prey, so a kind of support. They represent high posts with a seat on top. This allows them to perfectly capture their prey in the surrounding fields or simply enjoy the view.
