Project description

Hey Alter! Hildesheim
Old computers for young people

Helping children and young people from socially disadvantaged families to have more equal opportunities by providing them with computers – that’s the idea behind HEY, ALTER! We call on companies, institutions and private households to donate their old computers. We make them fit again and then give them away to students in our region. AND THIS IS HOW IT WORKS The computers provided should be as data-free as possible. For this purpose, all memory will be neutralized by us; if desired, donors will receive the corresponding certificate. Then the operating system Ubuntu Linux, a browser and LibreOffice are installed as a basis for digital teaching and e-learning. After a successful test run, the computer receives the HEY, ALTER! stamp and is distributed to the students via the schools and parents’ associations.
