Project description
mission:future
a performative online game
The project is designed as a performative online game format that is accessible in the form of a website. Everyday actions in the analog reality of the players are translated into a gamified digital context in which points can be earned to build an alternative world. The game is played in teams of four against other teams. Each day, each team receives mission cards with action instructions for the analog reality. Digital points are distributed in the game for completing the plot.” The goal is for each team to build the alternate world by earning points within the allotted 14 days of play. The instructions for action are designed in such a way that the given framework shows possibilities for action and provokes freedom in execution. This not only promotes more sustainable actions by integrating them into the everyday life of the players, but also the individual approaches that lead to a stronger sense of meaning and an increased self-reference while experiencing (self-)effectiveness. The players are invited to test a game environment that is clearly marked as gamification, which is supposed to support them in creating a more sustainable everyday life, which additionally gives an outlook on a possible real future through a narrative setting.
