Project description
At the table! – the Foodture Game
In our project “Zu Tisch! The Foodture Game”, we developed an educational theatre game format in the spirit of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) on the topic of sustainable food consumption. In a playful setting, the participants reflected on their own approach to food and were inspired to make their personal everyday lives (more) sustainable.
The topic of sustainability is often characterised by negative emotions, blame and fear of doing without. To counteract these feelings, we limited the topic of our game format to an area that is close to the participants’ lives and that they can influence: Food consumption and nutrition. Our food industry and our diet have a major impact on the consumption of energy, water and soil resources and thus influence the impact on climate change.
Our project enabled participants to reflect on their own options for action and engage in constructive dialogue: The playful format, similar to an escape room, provided easy access to the topic and made it easier to communicate with each other – the format was designed to stimulate thought processes and be fun at the same time! Generating positive emotions creates a strong motivation to question and adapt one’s own thinking and actions.
