Project description
Team Local Seasons (ATTUNE)
As part of the Erasmus+-funded project ‘ATTUNE – Activate the University for Climate Change’, we planned to design a wall calendar with information on seasonal and regional foods, their origins and monthly recipes. The seasonal calendar, which was sponsored by the StuPa and Green Pot, was distributed free of charge to students at the University of Hildesheim in June 2024 in a quantity of 500. The aim of the information pages is to raise awareness of the diversity of food grown in Germany and to report on types of cultivation and reasons for regional and seasonal purchasing behaviour, among other things. The other 12 pages contain artistic illustrations of the seasonal fruit and vegetables of the month. On the backs of these pages, students can find appealing and inexpensive recipes with the respective types of fruit and vegetables. These are vegetarian, and some are also vegan and gluten-free. In addition to the direct aim of imparting knowledge, the calendar also aims to serve as a stimulus for inspiration and creativity when cooking. It is also an attempt to consciously influence students’ fruit and vegetable purchasing decisions and encourage them to think and rethink. It is also an all-year calendar, which makes it reusable and a practical addition to any student/flat share kitchen. Our seasonal calendar follows the example of the wall calendar published in 2021 in the project ‘Where students like to eat’.
