Project description
Where students like to eat
The Hildesheim seasonal calendar
With this project, we want to encourage students to act sustainably in their individual behavior with low hurdles. The target group are students of the first semester of the University of Hildesheim. Printed calendars are provided free of charge to first-year students. Our seasonal calendar stands out from others in that it was designed specifically for the Hildesheim region. On the front it shows fruits, vegetables and herbs illustrated by designers from the Hildesheim area as well as a monthly agenda. This is intended to create an aesthetic approach to the topic of seasonal eating so that the calendars can be integrated into students’ everyday environments and thus receive frequent attention. The project team’s expertise in psychological aspects of environmental communication forms the basis for the design of the seasonal calendar. On the back of the calendar, small texts in the form of recipes, references to places, grocers and tips (e.g. where food can be found in the wild) are intended to encourage regional and seasonal food procurement. Humorous texts and aesthetic illustrations support the transfer of knowledge and are intended to encourage the viewer to implement sustainable behavior in practice.
