Project description
Winter wonder 2023
Every child deserves to experience the excited joy of unwrapping their own gift. But often this option is not available. That’s why the non-religious Winterwunder project has been trying to make the world a little happier for the youngest of us for four years. The focus is on children and young people aged 0 to 18 from structurally disadvantaged backgrounds in and around Hildesheim. Last winter (2023), our team once again diligently collected donations in kind and money (which we invested in gifts that were as sustainable as possible) and distributed them as colorfully wrapped gifts to children and young people on the occasion of December 10, International Human Rights Day. This is not just about the act of giving, but also about a spark of justice and raising awareness of sociopolitical structures. To this end, Winterwunder 2023 once again worked closely with Ponto and Asyl e.V. to reach as many children and young people as possible. Last but not least, we have received important support from many friendly helpers who have supported the project not only with donations, but also with their time and energy – for example at our packing parties. We would like to express our sincere thanks for this and hope that the Winter Wonder will retain its place in the heart of Hildesheim in the coming winter.
